If you would prefer to render your Pyro sims without using the KaBoom HDA, or you have VDBs in other DCCs, RenderMan also ships with a number of Pyro Presets, which can either be used within Houdini or any other RenderMan compliant DCC.  

RenderMan ships with the following Pyro presets and can be found under the Pryo inside the RenderMan Preset Browser

Bonfire
Smokey Bonfire
Candle
