Light Filters are used to manipulate lighting results. In the real world, stencils and gels often achieve this by changing the color, quality, and amount of light in a shot. RenderMan's light filters are a powerful and flexible way to do the same (and even more) in lighting your scenes.

Working with Light Filters in Solaris is simple and will instantly transform your lights and lighting!

In the example above, there is a single PxrCookieLightFilter applied to a DiscLight, and a colored map is then added to the PxrCookieLightFilter to create a colored gobo effect.

Begin by creating a lightfilterlibrary node

Once created, dive inside the node and create a PxrCookieLightFilter - add in your gobo texture and adjust the filter properties accordingly.

The next step is to add the PxrCookeLightFilter to the lightfilterlibrary list - You can do this by simply clicking the Auto-Fill Light Filters button.

Note: You can add more than one filter to lights and don't forget that if you create more filters, you will need to add them to this list.

Select the light you want to add your filter to and under the Base Properties tab, add the PxrCookieLightFilter
